SHILLONG, MAY 4: East Khasi hills deputy commissioner Sanjay Goyal warned that strict action would be taken against persons indulging in selling fake household goods.
The statement came after the office of the deputy commissioner came to know of instances of selling of fake detergent powder and other house hold items packed in packets by the sale persons of some dubious companies.
According to the Goyal, such instances are also more prominent in rural areas.
“Therefore, the administration warns against such persons who are indulging into such activities and strict action would be taken against them,” Goyal warned in a statement issued on Sunday.
Police recently informed that one person who introduced himself as Dines Roy, an agent for M/s Imperial Marketing, Paltan Bazar, Guwahati, supplied packets of 450 grams of Surf Excel detergent powder to the shopkeepers at Shyiap Langkyrding and other places. When the customers opened the packets they found salt instead of detergent powder.
Urging the public and rural shopkeepers to be very vigilant, Goyal said, “We also appeal to public and shopkeepers not to make purchases from any unknown persons or dealers who might be impersonating as dealers of reputed companies and should report such instances to the authorities immediately with all details.”- By Our Reporter
