SHILLONG, JUN 26: Mawlai MLA and VPP leader Brightstarwell Marbaniang has rubbished speculation that party president Ardent Basaiawmoit will fight the 2028 Assembly elections from two constituencies, saying the party treats all legislators equally.Speaking to reporters on Friday, Marbaniang said the claims were baseless. “Nothing as such, these are all rumours being spread by opponents,” he said.He added that ticket allocation for 2028 would depend on the party’s decision. “I am the MLA of Mawlai and if the party still entrusts me in 2028 I will contest,” Marbaniang said. “Ardent is the MLA of Nongkrem. If the party still entrusts him in 2028 he will contest, otherwise even Ardent if the party does not find him fit, he won’t be contesting.”Marbaniang underlined that the VPP does not give preferential treatment to any leader. “That is the stand of the party. It is me, not Ardent, everyone is the same,” he said.
