SHILLONG, MAR 31: The Voice of the People Party (VPP) has formally named Dr Batskhem Myrboh as its official candidate for the upcoming by-election to the Shillong parliamentary constituency.
The decision was approved by the party’s State Executive Committee (SEC) on March 31, following a recommendation by the State Election Committee.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, VPP spokesperson Dr Londoner Murphy Sohtun said the choice came after “thorough deliberations and consultations among party leaders.”
Dr. Sohtun added that Dr Myrboh was selected for his “steadfast commitment to the party’s values and principles, public service, leadership qualities, and dedication to the welfare of the people.”
VPP urged its members and supporters to unite behind the candidate.
“The party calls upon all party members, supporters, and well-wishers to continue extending their full support and cooperation, to ensure a triumphant outcome in the upcoming by-election,” Dr. Sohtun said.
