SHILLONG, FEB 19: Meghalaya’s Acapella group – the “Umjer” has entered the semi final in the famous India’s Got Talent reality show which is shown in Colour channel.
Formed in 2005, Umjer which is a seven member group started their journey by performing for Church’s choir in different platforms and competitions in the state till last year when they were spotted by the Kingdom Talent’s Hunt management.
“We are very happy to be able to make it this far in this prestigious competition,” Iaineh Kharumlong, one of the seven member of the group said while addressing a press conference on Wednesday.
Informing that semi finals will be held at Mumbai on February 22, he appealed to the people of Meghalaya to extend their full support by voting for the group and help them reach the finals.
Kharumlong informed that voting line will be open from 9 pm on February 22 to 9 am of February 23. People and supporters can type ‘UMJ’ and sent to 56882, he added.
“We urged our people to support us by giving their golden votes,” Kharumlong appealed.
The seven members group of Umjer are from Mawtawar village under Mawlai constituency.
Besides Kharumlong, the other members are Khraw S Dkhar, S Lyngdoh, EM Kharumlong, Bobby Kharbani, M Kharumnuid and S Rynjah.
Kharumlong informed that singing in Hindi is a tough challenge for the group but they are trying their level best live up to the challenge.
Meanwhile, Meghalaya Information and Public Relations department is helping to mobilizing support for this young and talented youngsters and promoting such talents.
The Dorbar Shnong of Umtawar also informed that they are going to meet chief Minister Mukul Sangma to seek the government’s help in mobilizing support for the group.- By Our Reporter
