Upland road: No cars timing

SHILLONG, APR 9: Shillong Traffic Police has imposed a fifteen minutes ‘no vehicle movement’ on Upland Road on all school days from April 14. Fifteen minutes ‘no vehicle movement’ will be from 2.15 pm to 2.30 pm on all school days, police said.

The decision was taken after it was observed that during closing of schools thousands of school children walk through the narrow Upland Road. Any movement of vehicles during this time may endanger the life of the school students, SP M Kharkrang said.

Kharkhrang said, “During the period of 15 minutes, no vehicle will be allowed to ply on the stretch of the road which includes vehicles of residents of the area.” “This has been done to ensure the safety and security of the school children and all motorists, especially residents of Upland Road area, are requested to cooperate,” he said.- By Our Reporter
