SHILLONG, JAN 28: The United Democratic Party (UDP) released its third list of candidates for the ensuing district council elections to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) slated for February 24.
The list consist the nine names which include a sitting legislator and an MDC– Remington Pyngrope from Mawkynrew and Titus Chyne from Sohra constituency.
The other candidates whose name figues in the third list are:
(1) Banalari Khongwar from Nongshken
(2) Rona Khymdeit from Nongpoh,
(3) Batskhem Marbaniang from Mawsynram,
(4) Robin K Raswai from Langrin,
(5) Braston Kharphuli from Mawphlang,
(6) Wankupar Syiemlieh from Nongspung-Sohiong
(7) Ryngkat Lyndem from Langkyrdem constituency
UDP State Election Committee (SEC) secretary Allan F Dkhar told reporters on Tuesday that the party would again sit on Wednesday to clear the three cases regarding the tickets relating to Nongstoin, Pariong-Mawthadraishan and Umroi constituencies.
With regard to allocation of ticket to the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) candidates, Dkhar said that the list of candidates would be declared in one-shot on January 30 adding that Mawkhar-Pynthorumkhrah, Laban-Mawprem and Ramrai-Jyrngam will also be cleared on the same day.
The UDP has so far released the names of 21 candidates for the elections to the KHADC out of which two are sitting legislators, three sitting MDCs and two women.
“We will soon announce the names from eight more constituencies,” Dkhar informed.
Dkhar said that there is a possibility of the UDP putting up women candidates for the JHADC elections but the party is still finalizing the name of candidates for scrutiny before being released. The Congress list for the JHADC election does not contain any woman candidate.- By Our Reporter
