SHILLONG, MAR 20: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, who oversees the Home portfolio, said that investigations are ongoing to determine whether the recent Garo Hills unrest was politically motivated.
“Investigation is going on. As of now, I cannot say right now. We are yet to reach a conclusion. So let the investigation go on,” Tynsong told reporters on Friday in response to questions about whether the unrest had been politically instigated.
The deputy chief minister said district administrations and law‑enforcers have been instructed to be proactive as Eid approaches.
“So we have instructed the district administration, as well as law enforcers to be more proactive on this issue and will make sure that the celebrations are smooth and it goes well as planned,” he said.
