Two more tests positive for COVID-19

SHILLONG, JUNE 2: The number of active COVID-19 cases in the state rose to 17 on Tuesday after two more returnees were tested positive.

Of these, 7 are from East Khasi Hills and 10 from Garo Hills.

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said that the two persons have recently returned from Uttar Pradesh.

“Two more residents of Meghalaya who had returned from Uttar Pradesh have tested positive for COVID19. Both of them are under quarrantine in West Garo Hills District…” Sangma posted on his Twitter handle.

He said the number of COVID-19 cases has also increased to 30 with one fatal loss and 12 others have recovered from the viral infections.

Earlier on Monday, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong had informed that there is no community transmission due to COVID-19 in the state.

He said that the new cases of coronavirus in the state were all related to returnees coming from different states across the country.

“The state government has been taken care of all the returnees’ right from the time they started their journey till they reached the state by not allowing them to mix with other people and I am sure that we will be able to control the spread of the virus to the maximum,” Tynsong had stated.
