Two days SSA strike

SHILLONG, JAN 15: The Meghalaya SSA School Association (MSSASA) on Saturday announced two days sit-in-demonstration from January 24 to 25 to protest against the failure of the NIOS to rectify the “faulty” results of over 4000 teachers, who had undergone the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EL.ED). The sit-in-protest will be held in front of the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)’s office located in the premises of the Directorate of Educational Research & Training (DERT) at Laitumkhrah.

The decision was taken at the Central Executive Council (CEC) meeting of the MSSASA held recently.

“We have decided to protest against the nonchalant attitude of the NIOS as it failed to rectify the anomalies in the results of the D.EL.ED declared for the 2013 batch having a total of 4385 teachers,” MSSASA president Aristotle C Rymbai said.

The teachers undergoing the training diploma are those falling under the different categories – SSA, government, adhoc, deficit and are teaching in elementary level.

He said that the teachers have been demanding the immediate rectification of the faulty results declared by the NIOS last year and to extend the validity period of the D.EL.Ed course and submission of forms before January 23.

As the NIOS authority failed to listen to our demand we are compelled to go ahead with our proposed agitations,” Rymbai said.
