Two convicted for murder

SHILLONG, DEC 20: A district court today convicted one Tenderlywell Hynniewta to life imprisonment for his involvement in murdering his girlfriend way back in 2002. The court of session judge has convicted Hynniewta to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 20, 000 and in default of the fine, to undergo an additional one year imprisonment for murdering his girlfriend, officials said..

Hynniewta was arrested for murdering his pregnant girlfriend, Corphilia Nongkynrih (20) on September 6, 2002.

In another case, the court has also convicted one Tek Bahadur Pun to seven years rigorous imprisonment for the culpable homicide of his friend Bhim Thapa. The incident occurred on March 27, last year when the accused had a quarrel with the victim and in the process stabbed him to death.- By Our Reporter
