SHILLONG, SEPT 12: Ri Bhoi police arrested two suspected ngo activists identified as Johnyfast Lyngdoh (22) and Mebanshuwa Kharphuli (20) in the wee hour of Thursday from five kilo village under the Umsning police outpost. Police said the duo were arrested at around 1 am on Thursday for attempting to pelt stones at public vehicles during the night road blockade.
Both of them are now under police custody at Nongpoh police station.
In another incident, a house belonging to one Gotam Pradhan at Saiden Umlaper located five kilometers away from Nongpoh was saved from being gutted when a group of unknown miscreants set the house on fire.
Police informed that the incident happened at 2 am Thursday when the miscreants set the house on fire. But fortunately Pradhan who was asleep suddenly woke up and saw his house slowly catching fire. He immediately poured water and doused fire.- By Our Reporter
