TURA, JAN 8: Famed musical The Band, an alternative pop-rock band, is all set to perform at the International Music Showcase Festival to be held at Nouvelle Prague, Czech Republic.
On December 23, The Band had performed and won the competition held at IIT Bombay Mood Indigo Livewire, which has given them the coveted slot to perform at Nouvelle Prague
At IIT Bombay, The Band had also opened for the international band – “Crown the Empire”. The date for the performance is yet to be notified by the organisers of the International Music Showcase Festival.
On Friday, The Band performed at Quick Bites Karoake lounge to raise funds for their upcoming music video and swayed the audience. The crowd at Quick Bites was all praise for the band for achieving the feat.
The band comprises of Mikkim Shira on guitar, Fame Sangma on vocals, Mark Shira on drums and Tengsam Momin on bass. They are all friends, who have in one way or other known each other since childhood.
In 2013, the band members came together to perform at the Battle Rock VI, a platform for upcoming rock bands of Garo hills held at Tura and were adjusted 2nd runners-up. Ever since, The Band has been together and has been performing at various national and regional music concerts.
In 2015, The Band performed at Hornbill International Music Festival held at Kisama, Nagaland and were awarded as the “best potential band”.
“We are very excited for the upcoming performance at the International Music Showcase Festival”, said Fame Sangma, the lead vocalist of the band.
On their journey, Fame said, “From friendship to experimenting on each other’s capabilities, we have kept our passion burning. We have learned to add more flame to the fires. Building castles in the sky does help.”
The band members seemed very upbeat.
“We learn from each other’s skills, we build confidence each time the band gets to perform somewhere, and the best part is we get to share the same dream doing what we all are probably destined to do”, Fame said
The band members unite to say that they all are different individuals but accurately synchronized.
“Learning is something that is always there. Even in small little things that take time to actually consider”, said Mikkim Shira, guitarist of the band.
The band grew up getting exposed to all kinds of music. They drew their inspiration from Megadeth, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Styper, Paramore, Alterbridge, Coldplay etc.
Mikhail Marak, a noted music composer, who shot to limelight after his Garo song was featured in MTV Indies last year said, “Really proud to see them grow and achieve what others just dream of. It is been quite a journey from small town Tura making it big outside and now they represent us to the rest of the world. What I see so far in them is just not talent but a serious sweat of hard work coupled with a hunger to achieve more”.
“The beautiful relation these guys share among each other is perhaps the outcome of their love for each other over the years, which transcends into a marvelous melody and thus a complete band”, Marak added.
