SHILLONG, NOV 23: Institute of Hotel Management Shillong in collaboration with Ministry of Tourism and supported by Meghalaya Institute of Entrepreneurship had organised a training programme under the Scheme “Capacity Building for Service Providers” for the inclusive trainees from Bethany Society, Shillong on November 19.
K Moses Chalai, Secretary NEC inaugurated the training programme as a chief guest in presence of R Lalrodingi Adviser BIT, Carmo Naroha, Executive Director Bethany Society, BK Sohliya, MAS Director, Meghalaya Institute of Entrepreneurship and Banlum Blah President of Confederation of Tourism, Meghalaya..
While addressing the trainees, Chalai highlighted that differently abled people are more abled in many ways. They too can skill themselves up and with training programmes such as this, they will be able to render opportunities for themselves.
Carmo Naroha, Executive Director Bethany Society, guest of honour said that this is the first time that such training is being provided to differently abled people to create employment opportunities with the objective of not leaving anyone behind..
Speaking in the same line, BK Sohliya, MAS Director, Meghalaya Institute of Entrepreneurship, the guest of honour said that unlike the general perception that differently abled people have limited opportunities, it is not so. Infact, if provided with proper opportunities, they too can do well in life and he promised to extend every possible help and support to the differently abled people.
Banlum Blah mentioned that the tourism sector would need the services of differently abled people like anyone else and looks forward to employing them in future.
Vijay Kumar Principal IHM, while offering his vote of thanks said, such a training programme is one of its kind and this institute aims to create more such employment opportunities for the differently abled in the future.
