Shillong, November 28: Three militants belonging to the newly formed militant outfit United A’chik Liberation Army (UALA), were gunned-down by security forces in a remote village of East Garo hills district on Thursday.
Acting on tip off, a joint operation was conducted by the district police’s SWAT and COBRA and raided the hideout of the UALA commander-in-chief of Norok X Momin at Sampalgre area, a senior police officer said.
During the operation, an encounter took place wherein three militants were shot dead while one of them sustained bullet injuries. He was arrested by the police.
Four identity cards belonging to the Norok, his deputy Walsare C Marak, general secretary Nagra R Marak, and Sergeant Major Riklkam R Marak and other incriminating documents were recovered by special operation team, police said.
Police also recovered one 7.65 Pistol with five rounds, three grenades and two laptops.
The injured cadre identified as Columbus Shangdiar has been admitted in the Tura Civil hospital.- By Our Reporter
