SHILLONG, MARCH 13: Three workers from Assam were crushed to death in a coal mine accident in the Era Aning area of South Garo Hills on March 10.
According to a delayed report reaching here, the accident occurred when a makeshift lift carrying six workers crashed into the coal pit after its cable snapped, killing three of them and injuring others. The dead have been identified as Nur Muhammed, Mominul Islam and Mukul Hussain, all hailing from Assam.
This is the third major coalmine accident in the state in three months. In January, six coal miners were crushed to death in similar manner in two separate accidents in the Jaintia Hills. (By Our Reporter)
