SHILLONG, SEPT 2: Hours after the twelve hours bandh concluded in Meghalaya, the pressure groups fighting for the implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the state announced three days ‘night road blockade’ from September 4 to 6 after their meeting held at an undisclosed location on Monday.
The 9 pm to 5am night-road-blockade will be effective in the entire state, KSU vice president Fredrick Kharmawphlang told reporters over phone after the meeting.
Kharmawphlang said, “We have decided to intensify our agitation to protest against the refusal of the state government to implement the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the state.”
The twelve hours bandh called by the ngos on Monday went off peacefully with only stray incidents reported from the different districts of the state.
Kharmawphlang also informed that the meeting expressed its appreciation to the people of the state for support and cooperation in the hours of the bandh.
Kharmawphlang said the ngos would announce on their next agitational programme after September 6 if the state government still ignores their demand. –By Our Reporter
