SHILLONG, MAR 21: The Meghalaya People’s Committee on Aadhaar (MPCA) will hold a discussion on Aadhaar Bill and Human rights on the March 26 at the Khasi National Durbar hall at Mawkhar at 11am. The co conveners Revd K Pyrtuh and Auguster Jyrwa has invited the people to come and participate in the discussion.
In a statement issued on Monday, the MPCA reminded of Sept 2015 meeting wherein the Samaritan Action on Social Transformation (SAST) had resolved to continue its campaign on the issue of Adhaar bill. In that meeting, discussion was held on (i) How Aadhaar can affect the community as a whole, (ii) How Aadhaar can affect the personal lives of the people of the state and (iii) Found that majority of the people in the state are not aware of the mechanism of Aadhaar.
The statement informed that as part of follow up campaign, the MPCA appeals to all traditional heads, religious leaders, ngos, political parties, students and all the residents of the state to come forward and actively participate in the discussion.
It also informed that the speakers on the agenda are as follows:-
- Rev. Dr. PBM Basaiawmoit ( one the leaders to spearhead the campaign and Pastor of Presbyterian church)
- Auguster Jyrwa ( General Secy. KSU)
