SHILLONG, AUG 23:Two persons committed suicide inside the Jowai police lockup on Friday morning. The two have been identified as Kitbok Kassar (24) of Mynthong, Jowai and Daphah Salanmi Rupon (26) of Salaroh, Jowai. Both of them hanged themselves. The suicide of the two inside the police lockup comes just a day later when another accused had also hanged himself in Tura police lockup on Thursday.
West Jaintia hills deputy commissioner PS Dkhar has appointed DP Kharsati, additional district magistrate, to conduct a magisterial inquiry into the deaths.
“The ADM will have to probe into the facts and circumstance leading to the death of the two persons and the detailed Inquiry Report which have to be submitted within a period of seven days,” Dkhar informed.
Police said the duo were booked in case number 153 (8) of Jowai police station under sections 448/379/34 of the Indian Penal Code.-By Our Reporter
An FIR should be filed against the Jowai Police…and the Post mortem videographed….and standard forms to be filled on any bruises in the bodies…and NHRC should be informed by the Police within 24 hours…If not then they killed them…
