Statue of U Tirot Sing Syiem to be unveiled at Dhaka on Feb 16

The lifesize statue and bust of the legendary Khasi freedom fighter – U Tirot Sing Syiem will be unveiled at Dhaka, Bangladesh on February 16.

Informing this on Wednesday, Minister in-charge Arts and Culture Paul Lyngdoh told reporters that the Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Urban Affairs Sniawbhalang Dhar, who will be leading a high-level government delegation, will unveil both the statue and the bust at Dhaka.

“I will also accompany him as the programme has been at the behest of the department of arts and culture and we will give details of the programme as we approach February 16,” he said.

He informed that the cabinet was also briefed that the state government has been talking to the India High Commission of Bangladesh on the matter.

The lifesize statue and bust of U Tirot Sing Syiem has been designed by renowned sculptor Raphael Warjri and approved by the arts and culture.
