NEW DELHI, NOV 14: Meghalaya’s Information Public Relations-MIPR- commissioner and secretary M H K Marak inaugurated the Meghalaya Pavilion at the 34th India International Trade Fair- 2014 (IITF) at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
Director of information and Public Relations HM Shangpliang, SR Marak, Joint Resident Commissioner, Meghalaya House, New Delhi along with officials from various participating departments and entrepreneurs were present during the inaugural function.
Earlier, President of India Pranab Mukherjee inaugurated the 34th India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2014 at Hamsadhwani Theatre, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The fair is organised by the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), Government of India every year from 14th to 27 November at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi and the theme for this year is ‘Women Entrepreneurs.’
The 34th edition of IITF saw the participation of over 6,000 exhibitors from India and abroad including different states from the country, central government ministries and departments along with their public sector undertakings (PSUs) besides 25 foreign countries taking part in the fair.
It may be mentioned that departments participating in the India International Trade Fair-2014 at the Meghalaya Pavilion include Agriculture and Horticulture, Commerce & Industries, Tourism, Forest,Animal and Husbandry, Social Welfare, Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Meghalaya Handloom Handicraft Development Cooperation, Meghalaya Khadi Village Industrial Board Directorate of Information and Public Relations as the nodal department.
Apart from Government Departments there are also 30 entrepreneur units sponsored by various Government departments participating in the Fair for promoting and showcasing their indigenous products.
As the theme for this year is Women Entrepreneur, many women groups/ngos from different parts of the state are participating such as Kyntu Shaphrang Women Self Help Group, Iooksi, Kyntulang Women Multipurpose Co-operative Society Ltd. Nongkynrih, West Jaintia Hills, Women for Integrated Sustainable Empowerment (WISE), Shillong, Women’s Group & Handicraft Multipurpose Co-operative Society Ltd. Mowkyndeng, Shiborlang Self Help Group, Mukhap, Mawiong Women Tailoring IndustrialCo-operative Society Ltd., Nongstoin, Jingjaw Um Barit Agro Food Product Cooperative Society Ltd, Nongpoh, T.T. Handloom, Umden, Chijingjang Natural Resource Management, West Garo Hills, Nangroi Agro Food Product, Shillong, Kara Food Processing Facory, Shillong and Pynroi CLF,Mawkyndeng.- By Our Reporter
