SHILLONG, JULY 13: The All Meghalaya SSA Teachers Association (AMSSATA) on Wednesday announced its decision to stage an indefinite sit-in demonstration from 15 July, as a mark of protest against the failure of the state government to release their salary for the last five months.
Speaking to media persons, general secretary of AMSSATA Defender S Lamare informed that today they have submitted a memorandum to the chief minister as a reminder on the last memorandum which they have submitted on 5 July 2022 with regards to their pending salary.
“During the executive meeting held on 5 July, the EC had taken the decision to begin the indefinite sit-in demonstration on the failure of the state government to release our pending salary” said Lamare.
Lamare said that since the year 2016-2017, the SSA teachers in the state have not received the arrears for not less than eight months.
He added that the SSA teachers face so many difficulties as they have not received their salary for the last five months.
“Apart from our five months salary, the state government has neglected the SSA teachers, as we have not received our arrears for eight months since 2016-2017” he added.
With regard to the scheduled protest, the GS AMSSATA Defender S Lamare informed that the All Garo Hills SSA School Teachers Association (AGHSSATA) will also take part in the sit-in demonstration in Shillong.
