Special court bill

SHILLONG, JUNE 11: Bill for the introduction of the Meghalaya Special Courts Bill 2014, to ensure speedy trial, was introduced in the assembly on Wednesday by deputy chief minister in-charge law Rowell Lyngdoh. The bill aims to provide for the constitution of special courts for speedy trial of any offences which are perpetrated against any person.

The government introduced the bill in the aftermath of the brutal killing of a woman by Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) militants in South Garo Hills district last week.

The statement of object and reasons of the bill points out that it has become necessary to have special courts in the State to deal with cases exclusively allotted to it for speedy trial and end of justice as the normal courts are already overburdened with various cases.

“A law is required in this regard so as to have more courts to provide fast track trials in cases and the crimes are nipped in the bud,” the bill stated.- By Our Reporter

please put the bill in public domain because we do not want the likes of Mukesh and Chacko investigating crimes and tampering and nailing innocent people…For medals…and to please their political masters…Good judges and not political appointees please… We shall be on the watch…Justice no doubt has to be speedy, and it SHOULD be JUSTICE…just wondering again…Could it be that the woman was murdered to bring in this Bill???No harm in suspecting here too…if cops can suspect and kill I am just ‘suspecting’, coz I find a motive here…
