SHILLONG, DEC 22: The Sohiong police outpost that will cater to 63 East Khasi Hills villages was opened on Saturday. The outpost, which has been carved out of the Mawngap outpost, will have 8 police personnel, including two officers, a head constable and five constables.
Inaugurating the outpost, state home (Police) minister H. D. R. Lyngdoh said it was the long-felt need of the people of the area and urged the police to serve the public with utmost sincerity. He earlier unveiled a plaque to mark the inauguration of the outpost.
The function was presided over by East Khasi Hills superintendent of police M. Kharkrang. Others present on the occasion included chief secretary W. M. S. Pariat, L Blah, MDC, L Malngiang, MDC, I Lyngdoh, MDC, Kulbir Krishan, director general of police, J Lyngdoh, commissioner and secretary, home (police), B. L.
