SHILLONG, APR 30: 70 volunteers of the Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation (SNCF) today took out a cleaning drive at the Shillong Civil Hospital with an aim to promote the message of cleanliness among the masses.
With brooms and spades in hand, the volunteers collected the garbage and swept the entire area of the hospital clean, and spread the awareness on cleanliness and eco-friendly practices.
Sant Niranakari Mandal’s Jorhat based Zonal In-charge Jadu Kalita in his message said, “Earlier the SNCF had organized blood donation camp and cleanliness drive at Jhalupara area. This was the third event in the series. Social endeavors like cleanliness, tree plantation and blood donation etc by the volunteers of SNCF will continue in the future to guide and motivate people to join such noble causes.
Our aim is to regard oneness of humanity on the principle of unity in diversity and to demonstrate that our happiness in the society is strongly interdependent.”
Dr Kharluki from Orthopedic department inaugurated the event. Ajoy Dey from administration, senior matron M swer and health educator A Majhong were also present to support the volunteers.
Considering the long term effects, people have to take ownership of their environment. When people understand their roles and responsibilities towards a clean environment, only then such spirited endeavors can take place, Kalita said.
