SHILLONG, SEPT 26: Meghalaya police got a mysterious call from an unidentified man in Assam claiming that the kidnapped Intelligence Bureau official Bikash Singh had been taken to Bangladesh and is alive. The call was made to the South Garo hills SP on Saturday.
According Meghalaya Inspector General of Police (operations) GHP Raju the man called the SP from his mobile and passed on this information. On Friday night PTI Delhi had reported that the sleuth of the central intelligence agency had been killed by ultras, but the Meghalaya police said they had no such information even as the police informed that search operation was on to locate him.
Singh was kidnapped along with a trader by suspected ASAK militants.
Raju told this reporter on Saturday, the police is in the job to ascertain the information provided by the unidentified man from Assam. He said, “ Firstly we are trying the motive of the man who passed on this information to the SP and are also trying to ascertain the information passed on to the police.”
Raju said since last night the police have been able to get innumerable information relating to the abduction case. He, however, refused to divulge saying that police is trying to find out the veracity of all the information that they have been able to glean from various sources. – By Our Reporter
