SHILLONG, FEB 12: A one day “Skill Fest cum Workshop” was organised by Thomas Jones Synod College in association with the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Jowai and the Directorate of Employment and Craftsmen Training (DECT) Meghalaya in the college campus on Wednesday.
Minister of labour Ampreen Lyngdoh grace the inaugural programme as the chief guest, B Hajong, director of DECT, LS Garod, joint director of DECT, RR Kharkongor, Principal of Thomas Jones Synod College, Jowai, FB Basan EAC, Jowai and others.
The aim of the workshop is to create awareness among the unemployment youth of the district about placement guaranteed Vocational Training courses available in institutions. The Vocational Training Providers (VTPs) will be providing training on Hospitality, Beauty & Wellness. IT/IT enabled Services, Health Care & Aviation, Tussle Crafting, Retail, Banking & Finance, Business & Commerce, Travel & Tourism, fast moving consumer Goods and security Services.
Ampareen Lyngdoh said told the gathering that the purpose of conducting this workshop is to help the job seeker youths through the Vocational Training Providers (VTPs) to choose their right Job. She mentioned that the government has taken up these challenge in partnership with the selected VTPs to help the unemployed youths of the state.
Lyngdoh urged the ngos and stakeholders to think ahead, to be positive and to create an atmosphere which is going be conducive for the future generation as well as job seekers to be ready to serve in any parts of the country with commitment and brave up for challenges with responsibility.
B Hajong, Director, DECT, in his introductory speech said he was happy and pleased to see the stalls and youths with aspiration participating in the workshop. He informed that the workshop will help the youths to choose right job. He requested the youths to get proper information and find out which course is suitable for them. He also informed that post placement safety & security arrangement will be provided to selected candidates.- By Our Reporter
