Shillong, December 6: The three days “Simsang Festival 2013” in the militancy prone Williamnagar, the district headaquarter of the East Garo hills district , ended with a musical evening as thirty thousand people rocked to the music of the Phoenix, Restless Desire and Axis at the Ronggenggre Secondary school playground on Friday.
East Garo hills deputy commissioner Vijay Mantri said that the three days festival was a grand success as people from the nearby villages and other districts of Garo hills also poured in. He said the musical evening saw a huge turnout with around thirty thousand people pouring in to listen and dance to the music of the three rock bands.
The Simsang Festival 2013 like last year was organized by the West Garo hills district administration. Coming just few weeks ahead of Christmas, it has set the tone for a festive December month not only in East Garo hills but also the entire other four districts of Garo hills.
The three days festival was laced with event ranging from the Miss Simsang Beauty Pageant, fashion show, slow food cooking festival, exhibition stalls & flower show, carnival cross country cycle race, indigenous games & sports ,singing & dancing competitions, Wangala dance competition and many more fun filled events.- By Our Reporter
