SHILLONG, APR 11: The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel on Friday attacked the villagers in North Garo hills district when they were on the way to the police station to handover a CRPF sub-inspector who allegedly misbehave with a lady.
The public had assaulted the SI Jagdish Singh of D Coy, 152 Bn, CRPF camp indoor stadium in North Garo hills when he had gone to one house belonging to MD Fidha Hussain on Friday afternoon.
Earlier, on Thursday night the SI had gone to the residence of Hussain at Mendipathar and caught hold of his wife’s hand.
On seeing the SI coming to their house, the wife of Md. Fidha Hussain raised an alarm, following this, the public assaulted him and later was taken to Mendipathar police station, police said.
On the way, the CRPF personnel attacked the public near the Indoor stadium and rescued SI Jagdish Singh.
The CRPF personnel also dragged a person identified as Bajrang Baswan to their camp and assaulted him with cane and rifle butt, police said.
Later an irate public ghereaod the CRPF camp and demanded release of Bajrang Baswan.
Police said the situation was brought under control later and the matter is under investigation.- By Our Reporter
