SHILLONG, JULY 16: KHADC chief Hispreaching Son Shylla today submitted list of eight executive members (EMs) of the newly formed NPP-led Khasi Hills Democratic Alliance (KHDA) executive committee to the District Council Affairs (DCA) department.
Informing this here on Monday, Shylla said, “I have submitted the names of eight executive members to the Commissioner and Secretary of the DCA department for approval of the Governor.”
These include 3 UDP MDCs – Neil Antonio War, Rona Khymdeit and Donkupar Sumer, 3 PDF MDCs – James Sylliang, Latiplang Kharkongor and Blanding Warjri and 2 NPP MDCs – Jansing M Tynsong and Victor Ranee.
The KHDA is having the support of 4 National People’s Party (NPP), 5 United Democratic Party (UDP), 4 People’s Democratic Front (PDF), 3 Hill State People Democratic Party (HSPDP), 1 Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) and 1 Independent.
According to the CEM, the portfolios to the executive members will accordingly be distributed once the list is approved by the governor.
Asked, Shylla said that the alliance has also decided to field UDP PP leader Teinwel Dkhar for the post of Chairman and UDP member from Mairang Equator Nongrang for the post of deputy chairman of the Council.
The post of Chairman in the KHADC fell vacant following the sudden resignation of PDF member LG Nongsiej recently which led to the postponement of the election to the CEM post.
On the other hand, the KHADC chief said that the HSPDP member from Mylliem Teilinia Thangkhiew, who has been appointed as Protem Chairman at the moment, will take over as deputy chief executive member of the Council.
Meanwhile, the session of the KHADC will be held on July 25. Shylla said that the election to the post of the Council’s Chairman will be held after filling up the post of the deputy chairman, which has been lying vacant for more than two years.
