SHILLONG, JAN 31: KHADC chief Hispreaching Son Shylla has decided to quit the National People’s Party (NPP) as a mark of protest against the MDA government’s failure to approve the various Bills passed by the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).
“I have tendered my resignation from the primary membership of the party (today). It is an insult to associate with a party which refused to sign our Bills,” Shylla told reporters at the sidelines of a rally to oppose the citizenship amendment bill held in the city on Thursday.
The KHADC had passed various Bills which related to the implementation of the Inner Line Permit system to check influx and illegal immigrants into the state, Khasi Social Custom of Lineage, Clan and others.
“Who is preventing these Bills from becoming laws it is definitely not Modi but it is Conrad K Sangma and Donkupar Roy,” he said.
Shylla also accused the National People’s Party for failing to voice out concern on the issues related to the indigenous people.
Asked, the KHADC chief said that he is not interested to join other political parties.
