SHILLONG, JULY 14: Around six vegetable shops were damaged when a fire broke out at a market in Ri Bhoi District even as a news reporter present in the incident was injured after people in the crowd assaulted him.
The incident took place at 9th Mile, Baridua at around 1 am on Friday morning.
Police said that there was no casualty reported while loss of property is estimated to be at Rs 5.30 lakh.
Meanwhile, while the crowd was extinguishing the fire, media persons of ‘Pratidin Time’ took videography of the incident and in the meantime angry youth assaulted them and snatched one camera, one halogen light and one gold chain from a reporter identified as Trilok Singh.
As a result, Trilok Singh sustained injuries and was admitted to a hospital.
