SHILLONG, APR 7: A shop was gutted when a fire broke out at Madanrting on Sunday afternoon. The shop belongs to one D Khriam. The outbreak of fire was noticed by the some personnel of the ARC.
After noticing the fire in the shop, the Assam Regimental Centre personnel located at Happy Valley and the Army firefighting team swung into action and helped in extinguishing the fire , therefore, averting a big tragedy as the fire was not allowed to spread in the neighbourhood.
The catastrophe would have been unimaginable if the fire would have spread into the adjacent houses and shops.
The team assisted the fire-brigade personnel and provided the manpower and water tender to restrict the flames from the shop to spread.
The timely help of the GTC and the army was appreciated by the locals as well as the police and fire-brigade departments.- By Our Reporter
