SHILLONG, AUG 31: Ahead of Monday’s twelve hours bandh, incidents of arsons were reported in three locations on Saturday even as the East Khasi hills district magistrate Sanjay Goyal imposed section 144 Cr,PC in the city to stop act of vandalism.
Miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at one of the shops in Polo Bazar at 5.30 am Saturday morning. Police informed that the fast food centre belonging to one Prakash Gurung was partially damaged due to petrol bomb attack, they said.
Miscreants also set on fire one motorcycle at Langkyrding in the wee hour of Saturday. The motorcycle bearing registration number ML 05 J 3405 belongs to one Vivion Richard Nongsiej of Langkyrding.
In another incident, miscreants attempted to set ablaze a rented house of one Bhagwati Prasad Bajoria at Umsohsun. The police have started investigations into the three incidents. A senior police officer said,“We have already launched intensive search to nab the culprits behind the arsons.”
The district administration has immediately imposed section 144 Cr.PC in the city to stop recurrence of such cases of arsons. The district administration has prohibited carrying of arms, weapons or any material(s) which may be used to cause grievous harm, injury or damage or lost of human life, public and private property, sale of petrol/diesel or any other inflammable materials in loose jericans/ jars/ bottles to any person(s) by any petrol pump or refilling station or private individuals dealing with the sale or storage of such inflammables..
Around ten ngos that also includes the KSU, FKJGP and other organizations have called a twelve hours bandh after the government failed to accept their demand for implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) to stop illegal immigrations into the state.-By Our Reporter
