The Election Commission has seized cash, liquor, drugs and freebies worth over Rs 37.51 crore in Meghalaya.
Chief electoral officer Dr BDR Tiwari informed that before the announcement of model code of conduct (MCC), the total seizure was worth Rs 33.45 crore.
“After the announcement of MCC, we have Rs 4.06 crore, so total seizure till date is Rs 37.51 crore and this includes liquor, drugs, cash and freebies etc,” he told reporters.
He informed all the central agencies, state agencies are on the job and the needful arrangement for the flying squad, SSTs, VSTs are already being put in place.
“So, the nakas and everything is being monitored and checked regularly and properly,” he said.
