SHILLONG, APR 6: In view of the 12 hours bandh call given by the proscribed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) on April 9 to boycott the elections to the Shillong Lok Sabha seat, Meghalaya acting chief secretary PBO Warjri informed that the state government has made all necessary arrangements to ensure the conduct of free and fair elections.
The HNLC on Saturday had called for 12-hour bandh in Khasi and Jaintia hills on the day of the voting to protest to ensure that the voters boycott voting for the Shillong Lok Sabha seat.
Warjri on Sunday assured the electorates of the Khasi and Jaintia hills that the government has made all the security arrangement to see that the polling for the Shillong Lok Sabha seat on April 9 is not only free and fair but also goes off smoothly without any hindrance.- By Our Reporter
