SHILLONG, SEPT 12: Gayatri Nair, a class VI student of Army Public School , won two gold medals, representing Meghalaya in the recently held 2nd North East Zone Shooting Championship. This young girl won gold in 10 m air pistol women youth category (below 18 years) and 10 m air pistol women junior category ( below 21 years) and a bronze medal in senior category (above 21 years).
The 2nd North East Zone Shooting Championship 2014 in small bore rifle and pistol events was held at Kahilipara , Guwahati Shooting Ranges from 2 to 6t Sep. Shooters from North East Zone actively participated in the various events.
Assam team won 32 medals in the overall tally and stood first in the North East Zone. The competitions were organized under the National Rifle Association of India and Assam Rifle Shooting Association.
Union minister of state Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated the opening ceremony of the shooting championship.- By Our Reporter
