The programme was attended by the Executive Engineer (PHE) & Member Secretary, District Swachh Bharat Mission (Gamin), West Garo Hills, Tura, District Mission Coordinator, DSBM (G), West Garo Hills, Tura, Block Mission Coordinator, SSA, Rongram Block, Medical and Health Officer, Asanangre PHC, Child Development Project Officer, Block Coordinator, SBM-G, Rongram Block, ICDS, Rongram Block, ASHA Workers, Aganwadis and the local people of Jendragre and Asanangre village.
During the programme, the Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills Ram Singh has urged upon all the people to ensure that the resolution with regard to the plastic ban in the district with effect from 15th August, 2018 is passed and make the village is Plastic Free and to imposed fine if anyone is found littering plastic waste in the district. He urged upon all to segregate the waste and dispose in a proper manner.
Further, he advised them to use biodegradable waste for composting purposes and informed that Solid Liquid Waste Management is being taken up in selected number of villages in a phased manner under Swachh Bharat Mission. While lauding the efforts of the people for cleaning their streets and villages, he also requested all committees to organised regular cleaning drive in schools and other government establishments and picnic spots in and around the district.
The Deputy Commissioner also urged the people to take Swachhata as part of culture and to maintain cleanliness as their daily activity and not just for the sake of winning any kind of award or incentives and called upon the people to cooperate and support the government in their efforts to make clean India before Gandhiji’s 150th birthday next year.
