SHILLONG, OCT 20: The BSF have seized items worth Rs 36.20 lakhs while being smuggled to Bangladesh through the porous Meghalaya border.Twenty-nine cattle worth Rs 3.89 lakh were seized by the BSF from along the Indo-Bangla border in West Jaintia hills while being smuggled out to Bangladesh.
After a tip off, BSF launch an operation in and around Tuka, Muktapur, West Jaintia hills and seized the 29 cattle meant to be smuggled out to Bangladesh, BSF officials said in a statement on Tuesday.
BSF said on reaching the place, the smugglers however managed to flee taking advantage of darkness and bad weather.
The BSF also seized 119 Cattles, 366.37 Cft wooden logs, boat 20 Liquor 663 bottles and 1850 bamboos worth more than 33.20 Lakh, while being smuggled out from India to Bangladesh on the Meghalaya border during the last week.
The seized items have been handed over to concern authorities.- By Our Reporter
