SHILLONG, MAR 22: Meghalaya sports & youth affairs minister Zenith Sangma on Tuesday informed the state assembly that a total expenditure of Rs 1,539.07 lakh was incurred in the recently concluded 12th South Asian Games in the state.
Replying in the assembly on Tuesday, Sangma said out of this, Rs 392.07 lakh was the expenditure for upgradation of sports infrastructure, Rs 250.00 lakh for face lifting of civil amenities by municipal board, Rs 777.00 lakh for equipment for security by state police and Rs 120.00 lakh for launching of the Shillong Leg.
He also informed that total expenditure of Rs 41.51 lakh was spent on the gala dinner organized by the state government through the Arts and Culture Department.
Raising his supplementary, HSPDP president Ardent M Basaiawmoit wanted to know whether the payment of bills to contractors engaged by the department has been completed.
On this, the minister replied that the department is already in the process of making the payment to the contractors.-By Our Reporter
