TURA, NOV 5: Reacting to the Meghalaya police giving a bounty of Rs 10 lakhs on the ten most wanted militants in Garo and West Khasi hills district to anyone who provides information on them, the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) said if the people of Garo hills provide information on police movement, they will be rewarded with Rs. 15 lakh.
In press statement issued on Wednesday, the GNLA also gave a warning to the public not to dared to inform the police about their movement in the village or jungle. The outfit has provided three mobile numbers for public to connect to them. (+8801865909423, +8801962810779 and +918575718521).
On Wednesday the police yesterday announced a cash reward for those providing information leading to the arrest of 10 “most wanted” militants along with their photos.
The “most wanted” militants include eight from GNLA and two deserters of the outfit who have formed another group called the A’chik Matgrik Elite Force (AMEF).
The GNLA militants whose named figured in the most wanted list of the police includes Baichung Ch. Momin alias Nikkam, Kiljang R. Sangma alias Jangjang, Hedeo Ch. Momin alias Karak, Ajan Ch. Momin alias Jimmy, Kennedy T. Sangma alias Hebel, Rakban D. Shira alias Philiport, Rikchi D. Shira alias Rakkam and Zen Robert Ch. Marak alias Toding alias Rupanto.
The two AMEF militants are Jack Marak alias Jack and Chesrang D. Sangma alias Goran alias Janat.
GNLA commander-in-chief, Sohan D Shira said in the press statement , “If knowingly or mistakenly, anyone reports or informs any sorts of intelligence to to the police departments, then they have to bear all the responsibilities of their life and also the lives of their dear ones”.
The release also warned the public not to be police informers. Shira also stated, “If you can bring back your life as well as the lives of your dear ones with the money rewarded for being an informer because sooner or later you (informer) will be the victim of our bullets and the choice lies at your hands”.
Giving a warning, the outfit stated in the release, “I Sohan D Shira, would like to inform to the general public the cash reward of Rs. 15 lakh to any individual or groups, whosoever inform us where the police personnel are holding up at the schools, villages, camps at the jungles or even their movements in the vehicles along the roads and highways of the patrolling squads”.
The GNLA also gave a piece of advice to the Meghalaya police to utilize the bounty for development of rural and remote villages in Garo hills, instead of rewarding to hunt them down.- From Our Correspondent
