SHILLONG, SEPT 21: Assembly Speaker Donkupar Roy welcomed the four newly elected legislators to the tenth Meghalaya Legislative Assembly during the first day of the five-day autumn session which commenced here on Friday.
Before the government business was taken up in the Assembly, the Speaker said that he would like to welcome the newly elected members of the House which include the chief minister Conrad K Sangma, who won the South Tura bye-election recently.
The others include opposition Congress legislator from Ampati Miani D Shira, United Democratic Party (UDP) MLA from Ranikor Pius Marwein and National People’s Party (NPP) MLA from Williamnagar Marcuise N Marak.
Meanwhile while also extending his warm welcome, the chief minister also congratulated the Speaker for his initiative to telecast the proceedings of the Assembly’s current session.
“It is a wonderful initiative and I think people of Shillong will be very happy,” Sangma said.
