SHILLONG, SEPT 5: Luphina Kharumnuid, a teacher of Green Hill Higher Secondary School Sohryngkham, East Khasi hills District on Monday was awarded as the “Most Loving and Rocking Teacher” of the year.
The award was presented by a Shillong-based radio station – Red FM 93.5 for the first time ever during the 55th Teachers’ Day celebration. The award is based on the nominations posted by listeners on the Red FM Facebook page and emails.
On receiving the award, an elated Kharumnuid, who have been serving as a teacher for past 29 years said, “I feel privilege and honour to receive the award and this will surely act as an incentive and motivation for me to keep giving my best to all my students.”
“Since the day I took up this profession I have always taken the students as my own children and even though there were hard times in dealing with difficulties I’m glad to see that my students have achieved success in their lives,” she said.
Earlier, Desmond Sun Assistant Programming Head, RED FM 93.5 said that the aim of the award is to make the students understands the value of the selfless dedication of their teachers towards providing quality education.
He also encourage Kharumnuid to keep imparting valuable knowledge to her students as she did in her 29 years teaching career in Khasi subject and her students have achieved 100 percent pass percentage.
“In her 29 years of teaching she has also taught moral values to her students on how to preserve the local culture and tradition and most of her students have achieve 100 percent pass percentage in exams,” he said.-By Our Reporter
