Relief for KSU men; blockade uncertain

KSU leadersSHILLONG, MAY 8: Two days ahead of the 48-hour night road-blockade called by the KSU, a Shillong court on Wednesday granted bail to the two members of the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) who were arrested for their alleged involvement in the April 4 incident of vandalism.

The release of the KSU – Mawlai unit general secretary Johnny Lyngdoh and Demseiniong unit member Teilang Nongbri – was conveyed to the union leaders by East Khasi hills district deputy commissioner Sanjay Goyal.

“The DC informed that Lyngdoh and Nongbri have been released after the court granted them bail. We respect the court’s decision,” said KSU president Daniel Khyriem.

Khyriem said the union would sit for an emergent CEC meeting to discuss on the latest development and take a call on whether or not to go ahead with its night road blockade programme. (By Our Reporter)
