SHILLONG, FEB 9: The Hynniewtrep Achik National Movement (HANM) on Wednesday threatened to close down the tower of a mobile service provider company after it allegedly refused to clear the bill of over Rs 10 lakh to a local contractor.
However, the decision was kept in abeyance after the company’s senior officials assured to pay the amount within 15 days’ time.
“We have decided to wait since the company has sought time for clearing the bill,” HANM president Lamphrang Kharbani told reporters after a meeting on Tuesday.
He alleged that the Reliance Communication Limited had failed to clear the bills of one Bakongsan Kharkongor since 2008.
“Kharkongor had got a contract work for construction of a mobile tower at Pynursla, which he had also completed. However due to unknown reasons his bill was unnecessary blocked,” Kharbani said.
According to him, such action cannot be tolerated since the contractor had completed his responsibility and he has every right to be paid for his work.
Speaking to the media, Kharkongor said that he had been made to run from pillar to post for getting his bill released by the company, which all went in vain.
“I had to go to Guwahati several times but the reply I got was either due to no sanction or the person who was supposed to sign the cheque was not available,” Kharkongor said while informing that he had even inform police about the matter but no action was taken from their end.-By Our Reporter
