SHILLONG, JUNE 13: NPP demanded that the state government immediately release the Rs 270 crore sanctioned by the centre to the three autonomous district councils (ADCs). “It has been five months but the state government is not releasing the amount meant for development of the ADCs,” NPP national president Conrad K Sangma, also Tura MP told reporters.
He said, “We demand the government to immediately release the money along with five months interest to the ADC.”
Welcoming the surrendering of cadres of different militant outfits in Garo hills, the NPP national leader also urged the government to ensure that proper rehabilitation and financial assistance is provided to them failing which the situation might boomerang.
He also said the party favours dialogue and negotiation with all militant outfits as a way to bring them overground while referring to the recent stand of the government’s decision of not holding political dialogues with such outfits.-By Our Reporter
