SHILLONG, OCT 7: Meghalaya deputy chief minister RC Laloo, in-charge Education, said the state government is yet to examine the demand for provincialization of teachers’ services in the state. He said the issue of provincialization of the teacher’ services will require to be studied and examined by the government.
Laloo was replying to a supplementary question posed by UDP legislator Jemino Mawthoh during the assembly session on Monday.
Referring to the demands of the teachers bodies under the Joint Action Committee of All Teachers’ Associations of Meghalaya (JACATAM), Laloo informed that the a delegation of the JACATAM had on September 30 met the chief secretary to discuss their demands and a three months deadline has been given to the state government.
As per the minutes of the meeting held with them, the chief secretary had clarified that some of the demands of the committee are simple in nature and some however required serious study by the state government, Laloo informed even as he said that the three months is not justified.
On a query raised by HSPDP legislator Ardent Basaiawmoit with regards to the uniform system of grant in aid to all schools, Laloo said that as per the minutes this uniform system grant in aid was not mentioned.
Laloo has also informed that the state government has decided to implement the Contribution Provident Fund (CPF) for all non-government deficit schools with effect from December 1, 2013.
Earlier, Laloo informed that the draft State Education Policy is ready. He said after obtaining views and comments from various stakeholders, the draft policy would be taken up with the cabinet for its approval.- By Our Reporter
