SHILLONG, JUNE 4: After failing to nab the rogue police sub inspector Nurul Islam, who have been accused of raping two minor girls in Garo hills- the Meghalaya police will be seeking the court’s permission to attach his properties.
The police had unsuccessful conducted multiple raids in all the places suspected to be Islam hiding including his native place in Chataimari, South Salmara of Assam. But his relatives have no clues about his whereabouts.
Meghalaya Inspector General of Police (IGP) Western Range, H Nongpluh said, “If the absconding officer doesn’t surrender, we will move the court and seek its proclamation to attach all his properties”.
Nongpluh informed that Islam bank account with the State Bank of India has already been frozen and steps are being taken to ensure his arrest and surrender. He also said that Islam has been further charged under the section related to protection of children offence act;2012, he is also been charged under three sections of the CrPC and a non bailable arrest warrant has also been issued by the court on Monday.
The manner in which Islam escaped from the Tura police reserve where he was brought after his arrest has raised eyebrows and outraged civil societies. Questions are also being raised as to why Islam was brought to the police reserve instead of putting him in the Tura police station lockup after his arrest.- By Our Reporter
