BANGALORE APR 2: Shillong based Rangdajied football club missed as many as six opportunities of scoring goals giving its Kolkata based rival Bhawanipore FC the much need chance of scoring a winner that came through a spot kick in the injury time in the second division I-League final stages of the first leg played at the Bangalore Football stadium on Tuesday.
After having a yoyo of the first half, the Shillong boys came all charged up in the second half but failed to convert the opportunities that came their way into goal. Looking for a winner Bhawanipore football club fielded J Marco Baretto Ramires in the mid-second half of the game to provide the team with the much needed arsenal for scoring.
The Shillong team has no one to blame for themselves for not being able to convert as many as six chances. The team came close to scoring in the 72nd minute of the game however Jeribe Kelechi failed to touch the Restom Khyriem grass-cutter cross. Had Kelechi managed to touch the ball it would have easily would found the net.
In the 88th minutes of the game Ambelistar Sunn crossed the ball and Shin Hojun took a shot and found the net but referee disallowed the goal calling it to be the off side.
As the match entered the one minute addition referee Arun Pillai of SSCB awarded spot kick in favour of Kolkata side after he caught Poibabiang Pohsnem bringing down Brazilian Baretto inside the box. Taking the spot kick experienced Baretto made no mistake and the ball went straight into the net.
With this win Bhawanipore earned four points while Rangdajied have one point. By Suraj Joshi
