SHILLONG, JUNE 20: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi’s forty-fifth birthday was celebrated by the Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress (MPYC) in several ways.
MPYC president Richard Marak along with several youth Congress members and social worker Samgar R Sangma went to Freedom Life Centre (an orphanage) at Samjonggre, near Chibragre picnic spot and celebrated the occasion by cutting a cake, distributing sweets and study materials and planting trees. ”
Marak said it felt so nice to see the smiles on the faces of the smart and beautiful children, the precious gems of the society and its future. He said, “I think that it is more meaningful to celebrate an occasion by doing something for society and the earth. I will stress this time and again that we need to think about our future generations and leave them a much greener planet.”
The South Tura Assembly Youth Congress celebrated the occasion by organising a cleaning drive. The Nongstoin AYC distributed fruits to the children of Wellington’s Orphanage Centre at Nongpyndeng. Pynursla and Mawsynram AYCs celebrated by distributing fruits and juices in hospitals.- By Our Reporter
