SHILLONG, APR 1: The NCP Rajabala candidate in the recently concluded MLA elections, Islam Hoque Choudhury, has demanded that the state government must take action against the rape accused and ensures women and children are protected from such crimes.
Choudhary demand’s follow the recent raped and murdered of a girl in Ri Bhoi district on March 29 last.
In a statement issued on Monday, Choudhary said, “Rape cases in Meghalaya are increasing day by day and government needs to take immediate step to ensure women safe and security.” He requested the home minister and the DGP to take initiative for speedy arrest of the culprits and punish them as per law of land.
Choudhary said, “I hope that the first time Meghalaya woman home minister will protect the rights of the women in the state and the government most also provide compensation to the parents of the victim.”
In another shocking rape case in South West Garo Hills, twenty tow year old Rapal Hajong is absconding after allegedly raping a five and half year minor girl recently.
Choudhary said, “The police department is requested to immediately arrest the accused Hajong for his inhuman acts and punish such criminals with life imprisonment.”- By Our Reporter
